FAQ

When is the wedding again?

The wedding is on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Smith College Conference Center (51 College Lane, Northampton, MA) and the ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm.

Where is the reception?

In the same building as the ceremony! A cocktail hour with drinks and hors d’ouevres will begin immediately after the ceremony, followed by dinner and dancing, all at the Conference Center.

Who is in the wedding party?

You can find photos and brief introductions of each bridesmaid and groomsman on the Meet the Wedding Party page.

Who took your engagement photos?

That would be the extremely talented Dasha Kazakova of Dasha Kazakova Photography. I highly suggest checking out her amazing work both on her website and her Facebook page.

Can I bring my kids?

While we do love children, this will be an event for adults only. We are planning to have a small wedding of only 75 guests, as that’s the limit for seating at the ceremony, and want to make sure we have space for all of our family and close friends. We thank you for your understanding and hope arrangements can be made that allow you to still attend our big day.

Can I bring a date?

We ask that you only bring a guest if one has been allotted for on your invitation. We are planning to have a small wedding of only 75 guests, as that’s the limit for seating at the ceremony, and want to make sure we have space for all of our family and close friends. If you have not been allotted a guest on your invitation, please contact us first before sending in your RSVP to ensure we have room for your guest.

Where is the nearest airport?

Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecitcut is the closest option (about a 45 minute drive from Northampton). However, there will be more options for flights and airlines if you travel through Logan Airport in Boston (about a 2 hour drive). Please visit the Travel page for more detailed information.

How do I get to the venue?

The Quality Inn is about 1 mile from the Conference Center, so it’s walkable, but it would be pretty far (especially in heels). We recommend driving (or carpooling). Please visit the Wedding Details page to view directions and parking information. You may also download the Printable Travel Pack, which has all the important details.

What should I wear?

The event is semi-formal, but we’re sure anything you want to wear will be fine. We trust our guests to show up looking fabulous!

What time should I arrive?

The ceremony will start at 5:00 pm, so we recommend arriving between 4:30 and 4:45 pm. There will be a live musician performing while you wait.

Will I have to pay for parking?

Free parking will be available outside of Sage Hall, the Ainsworth Gymnasium, and the Indoor Track & Tennis Center (see Campus Map). Guests may park in any faculty/staff or visitor spaces found throughout the Smith College campus during the weekend (even those that say “Permit Parking”). Metered parking can also be found on the edges of campus and throughout downtown Northampton ($0.50 to $0.75 per hour; free after 6pm). All of these options are within walking distance to the Conference Center.

What hotel should I stay at?

We have a block of rooms reserved for the nights of Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21 at the Quality Inn & Suites (117 Conz Street, Northampton). Call 413-586-1500 and ask for the “FitzPatrick and Waterman Wedding Block” to reserve a room. You do not need to stay both Friday and Saturday to get the special rate, but you do have to reserve your room by May 20, 2014. A complimentary hot breakfast is included with your room rate. For more information or to view other hotel options in the area, please visit the Accommodations page.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes, there is a ramp at the front of the building and an elevator to bring you to the lower floor.

What food will be served?

There will be a buffet with chicken and beef, as well as vegetarian/vegan options. Please let us know if you have any other dietary restrictions we should be aware of.

What time will the reception end?

We hate to see the party end, but all guests must be out the door by 11:00 pm. Visit the Local Attractions page if you’d like some ideas for where you can go after the wedding.

What else is there to do in the area?

Northampton and the Pioneer Valley have plenty of fantastic restaurants, shops, and activities to explore. Please visit the Local Attractions page for more information and recommendations.
